-Double-layer capacitors have significantly lower energy density than the candidate batteries. In addition, double-layer capacitors have very high self-discharge rates. On the other hand, double-layer capacitors exhibit excellent power output especially at high rate discharge. Therefore, double-layer capacitors shows promise for use in HEV applications if appropriately combined with an internal-combustion engine and a secondary battery or fuel cell.

1. 20% Cost Reduction: ·Introduction of novel type substrate (3DF). ·Reduced volume of MH alloy required.
2. Improved Performance·High Energy and High Power Output: ·Design longer and thinner electrodes by using 3DF substrate and novel active material formulations. ·Lower the cell's internal resistance by using 3DF substrate.
·High Product Reliability: ·Reduce MH degradation. ·Improve high temperature charge efficiency. ·Reduce cell-to-cell capacity variations.
